A career with Dollar Tree can be both exciting and fulfilling. The best part is that you can embark on that journey before you even graduate – our internship program is here to set you up for success so that you hit the ground running when you’re ready.

Our 10-week summer program has been recognized four years in a row by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) and the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership (V-TOP) as a Top Employer for Interns in the state of Virginia, and there’s a reason for that. Our leaders, mentors, and sponsors work tirelessly to ensure our interns’ experience is the most meaningful possible. ( Learn more about our full program here!)

We asked our 2026 interns about their experience with us – here’s what they shared:

While working within your teams, what skills have you gained over the last 10 weeks of the internship program?

“Over the last 10 weeks, I developed several valuable professional skills. I improved my time management by balancing multiple projects and deadlines, learned how to effectively receive and apply constructive feedback, and strengthened my communication and other soft skills through collaboration with my team. I also gained a better understanding of business concepts and how different departments work together to support the company's overall success.”

- Natia, Merchandising and Inventory Management Intern

“I have gained more analytical, decision-making, networking, and communication skills. It put me in a position where I was pushed out my comfort zone to really understand my department and how my analyses can help drive decisions.”

- Christy, Assortment Planning Co Op

“Over the last 10 weeks, I gained both technical and professional skills. Technically, I strengthened my knowledge of Java, Selenium, automation testing, and QA framework development while learning how enterprise software projects are built and maintained. Professionally, I learned how to clearly explain my work and communicate technical concepts to different audiences, especially during project presentations and meetings. I also improved my collaboration, problem-solving, and time management skills by working with teammates across different locations and taking ownership of my tasks. Most importantly, I developed the confidence to ask questions, present ideas effectively, and think beyond the technical work by understanding how my contributions supported the broader business goals. Overall, the internship helped me grow into a more well-rounded professional.”

- Muhammad, Information Systems - Quality Assurance Intern

What was your impression from the Leadership Lunch & Learns with Chief Merchandising Officer Brente Beebe, Chief Retail Officer Jocy Konrad, and CEO Mike Creedon?

“What I took out of Brent Beebe's lunch and learn was that it's okay if you don't know what you want to do in life, especially in college. Develop yourself as a person and the rest will fall in place.”

- Kenneth, Operations Data Analytics Intern

“Jocy Konrad was extremely energetic and passionate. She gave amazing insights not just into the industry but also life lessons. I loved her background and how she tied in all the experiences together.”

- Michael, Accounting Intern

“From Mike Creedon, I learned a lot regarding the future of Dollar Tree, market trends, unique paths to climbing the corporate ladder, and effective strategies for establishing yourself as a young professional in the modern world.”

- Lauren, Store Development Strategy Intern

How did your work contribute to actual team goals?

“The work definitely felt like I was contributing to my team. It was a balance of education and contributing to the company. I had a great opportunity to see my products chosen and put on the test section in the local store for my Crayola items.”

- Mary, Merchandising and Inventory Management Intern

"I feel like I greatly contributed. Since I was joining a one-person team, I was able to independently work on projects and lead cross-functional teams to showcase my deliverables. While Kajol still gave me oversight and consistent feedback, I felt like the work I did was meaningful." -

Ava, Advanced Analytics Co Op

“My team gave me three choices for impactful projects over the summer and made it crystal clear how each one would improve facilities’ processes. For example, they painted a picture of how important it is to get the electricity forecasting right in each quarter’s executive forecasting meeting.”

- Bradley, Property Management Intern
